Our heritage meat chicken is raised for the first 6 weeks on our non GMO 23% chick starter. Birds are then put on pasture for up to 10 weeks then finished on chopped, organic alfalfa hay and raw goat's milk until ready for market around 11-12 weeks of age. Their market weight is anywhere between 2-4 lbs, making this a naturally plump, juicy and excellent tasting meat that was raised ethically and processed humanly. This excellent tasting bird is haled by local chefs and made available to our customers in very small quantities.
Heritage chicken does not have nearly the fat content of "factory farmed" meat chickens and therefore requires a different hand to cook; slow and low.
